Our client is a well-established Food/FMCG manufacturing organisation operating within a highly regulated production environment. With a strong focus on safety, quality and operational excellence, the site runs 24/7 and offers a stable and professional environment for experienced technical leaders.

This role is responsible for leading and developing a multi-shift maintenance team to ensure effective daily technical operations, equipment reliability and continuous factory performance improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & People Management

  • Lead and supervise a maintenance team across multiple shifts
  • Manage daily technician activities, workforce planning and shift coverage
  • Provide coaching, regular 1:1 feedback and performance management
  • Act as a role model for accountability, teamwork and technical standards
  • Support the Technical Manager in delivering operational objectives

Maintenance & Technical Operations

  • Ensure reliable operation of production machinery and timely technical intervention
  • Lead troubleshooting activities for equipment breakdowns and technical issues
  • Analyse, report and follow up on equipment failures and abnormalities
  • Implement and monitor preventive maintenance programmes
  • Support technical improvement initiatives and capital projects when required

Safety, Quality & Compliance

  • Promote and enforce safe working practices and safety standards
  • Ensure inspections, documentation and reporting are completed accurately
  • Support investigations into incidents, near misses and quality non-conformities
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory and food safety requirements

Communication & Collaboration

  • Work closely with operations, quality and engineering teams
  • Communicate effectively across shifts and provide daily performance reporting
  • Support issue resolution and continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • Proven experience leading a maintenance or technical team within a manufacturing environment
  • Background in Food/FMCG or other regulated industries preferred
  • Experience with safety systems, quality standards and audits is advantageous
  • Strong people management and communication capability
