Our client, a well-established global leader in high-performance photonics components, is seeking a Senior Equipment Engineer to support and optimize laser diode production within a high-volume, multi-shift manufacturing environment.

This is a hands-on role that requires strong analytical thinking, solid technical expertise, and the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering and operations teams. Based at a contract manufacturing site in Chonburi, this role is responsible for ensuring equipment reliability, improving process performance, and minimizing production downtime.

The position works closely with manufacturing partners to monitor equipment health, troubleshoot issues in real time, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain day-to-day equipment performance using SPC and other monitoring tools to prevent line downtime
  • Analyze production and equipment data to identify trends, issues, and improvement opportunities in real time
  • Collaborate with contract manufacturing engineers and operations teams to troubleshoot equipment and process related issues
  • Ensure effective spare parts management, including inventory control, risk mitigation, and obsolescence planning
  • Audit and verify calibration and preventative maintenance activities for all production equipment 
  • Lead and support equipment qualification, installation, and commissioning for new production tools
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment uptime, yield, and overall production efficiency 
  • Apply structured problem-solving methodologies and data-driven approaches to resolve technical challenges
  • Work cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment on engineering and operational priorities 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Materials, Chemical Engineering, or related field
  • 3–6 years of experience in high-volume manufacturing (optics, electronics, or similar industries preferred)
  • Hands-on experience with production equipment, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement
  • Knowledge of equipment metrics (uptime, calibration, maintenance, spares management) and Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA/GR&R)
  • Experience with optical metrology, optical/electrical test systems, or precision assembly processes (e.g., bonding, soldering, alignment) is a plus
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings, with basic design understanding
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in data analysis and experimental design
  • Comfortable working closely with contract manufacturers and cross-functional teams
  • Proactive, hands-on, and able to work with limited resources in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong Thai (C1) and good English communication skills; additional languages (e.g., Mandarin) are a plus

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is an advantage.
  • At least 10 years of experience in civil engineering, design consultancy, or construction projects.
  • Experience in large-scale commercial, mixed-use, infrastructure, industrial, or high-rise building projects preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering standards, construction methodologies, and project management practices.
  • Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, STAAD, ETABS, or related tools.
  • Familiarity with local authority requirements and construction regulations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and coordination skills.
