- Tooling Estimation:
- Estimate costs for plastic injection moulding tools and materials
- Collaborate with suppliers to obtain quotations and negotiate costs
- Assist in selecting suppliers based on cost and technical requirements
- Mould Design Approval:
- Evaluate and improve mould designs for manufacturability
- Review mould flow analysis to ensure quality and efficiency
- Approve designs using advanced systems like hot runners and cooling systems
- Collaborate with design and production teams to ensure optimal performance
- Supplier Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve technical issues
- Ensure clear communication of project needs and timelines
- Project Management:
- Oversee tooling and mould design projects from start to finish
- Track progress, manage budgets, and report on project milestones
- Implement strategies to address potential risks
- Quality Assurance:
- Ensure tooling and moulds meet quality standards and regulatory requirements
- Participate in mould trials and first article inspections
- Address and resolve non-conformance issues with suppliers
- Technical Expertise:
- Stay updated on the latest moulding technologies and tools
- Provide technical support to design, production, and quality teams
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
- Experience in the automotive industry is preferred
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
- Minimum 3 years of experience in plastic injection tooling and mould design
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
- Knowledge of mould instruments like hot runners and cooling systems
- Experience in supplier management and negotiations
- Strong project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
