Corporate Buyer Raw & Packaging Materials

Our client, a global food manufacturing company, is undergoing a significant growth project in Thailand and is seeking a senior-level Purchaser / Buyer to join their dynamic team. This role will focus on managing the procurement of raw materials and packaging and can be based either in their Bangkok head office or at the plant in Chonburi. It is an excellent opportunity for a strategic procurement professional to develop their career in an international environment with a merit-based culture.
Responsibilities:

• Develop a comprehensive category plan resulting in a yearly action plan
• Manage the Raw Materials and Packaging portfolios and their suppliers on strategic, tactical, and operational levels
• Analyse market information and translate this into a concrete sourcing strategy
• Ensure the execution of the jointly chosen sourcing strategy
• Use existing sourcing processes and structures to support the business strategy, while continuously reflecting on and improving these processes
• Collaborate with teams from Marketing, Quality, R&D, Planning, Logistics, Production, and Procurement on existing product development (EPD) and new product development (NPD) initiatives
• Manage supplier portfolios per category, considering quality, contingency, sustainability, and price competitiveness
• Search for new suppliers and take initiative to explore new business opportunities from a procurement perspective
• Lead project management from the charter phase through to implementation
• Negotiate and conclude framework contracts, including service level agreements, balancing quality, supply reliability, and costs using the company’s “total cost of ownership” philosophy
• Ensure the contingency and quality of supplies to meet sales planning requirements
• Monitor contracts, volumes, and purchase price variances
• Provide input for financial reports
• Track market price evolution and assess the impact on prices paid

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Outlook
• Knowledge of SAP is a plus
• 5-7 years of experience in strategic procurement and sourcing negotiations
• Experience in the procurement of raw materials and/or packaging materials is advantageous
• Proficiency in English is required
