Our client, a world-leading global producer of a classic food product, is seeking a Head of Business Development to lead their efforts in attracting commercially viable opportunities. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organisational, communication, and commercial skills, alongside a strong scientific background and proven experience in business development within the food or agricultural sector.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and define policies and strategies to drive new business units, with a focus on quality, efficiency, and innovative value-added products
- Oversee and monitor the successful implementation of new business projects, ensuring on-time and on-plan completion
- Identify and invest in cutting-edge innovations and technologies, championing new business opportunities and solutions to maintain a competitive edge
- Establish policies and guidelines for managing financial performance (P&L, EVA, costs) of new businesses and track performance against targets
- Develop and implement financial policies and guidelines for budgets, costs, and expenses of new business ventures, ensuring alignment with strategic plans while maintaining competitive costs
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with key internal departments and stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and minimise disruptions to new ventures
- Act as a company ambassador, forging strategic collaborations with leading research institutions and business partners, while developing mutually beneficial partnerships with public and private stakeholders
- Effectively manage manpower resources, set challenging goals, provide coaching and guidance, and conduct performance evaluations to align with business objectives
- Focus on talent development, nurturing future leaders, encouraging continuous learning, and fostering a collaborative internal team for long-term business success
- Stay informed on industry trends and maintain relevant scientific knowledge to support new business initiatives
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or business; or equivalent experience with professional qualifications
- Expertise in biobased products/innovations, biomaterial, biochemical, food innovation, food tech, prebio, and ethanol is preferred but not essential
- 10-15 years of experience in a management role, with experience in forming business strategies and S-Curves
- Understanding of feasibility study and project management frameworks/techniques such as Stage Gate or Phase Gate
- Strong communication skills in Thai and basic proficiency in English
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, coaching, interpersonal, and presentation skills
- Excellent organisational and planning skills to meet multiple project deadlines
- Proven commercial skills, with the ability to acquire new business units, organisations (M&A), or technologies to enhance current business operations
- Proven financial management skills, including ROI, managing budgets, costs, and P&L
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
